As a new round of Syrian peace talks gets underway this week, aid workers are assisting the evacuation of residents from Homs and the Yarmouk refugee camp in Damascus. Featured on the Human Rights Channel this week, footage from Syrian media activists and aid organizations document the challenges and progress of efforts to reach communities under siege.

Here are highlights from Syria and other videos on the channel:

Syria

Efforts to evacuate residents of Homs have been extended for three days, after violence interrupted the mission. This video shot by media activists on Saturday shows UN workers caught amidst sniper fire. On Monday, however, large groups of families gathered around UN and ICRC vehicles as evacuation efforts continued. You can see more footage of efforts to reach Syrians with humanitarian aid in this dedicated video playlist.

Myanmar

Footage and interviews from Rangoon, Myanmar document the pre-dawn arrival of bulldozers and soldiers to forcibly evict hundreds of residents off of their homes and farms, claiming that they did not own the rights to that land. The Democratic Voice of Burma reports today that 80,000 other Rangoon residents have been declared illegal squatters, and could also be forced out of their homes and slapped with a prison sentence as early as Wednesday.
