Landmark Decision – Prop 8 Ruling
Thursday August 5th, 2010, was a victory day for the LGBT community. California's Prop 8 ruling was deemed unconstitutional in a landmark decision by Justice Vaughn R. Walker of the California Federal Court. The Rachel Maddow Show sums it up very well on MSNBC.

What We’re Reading+Watching, July 26-30, 2010
This week we’re sharing ‘tweeted’ bits of news discussing copyrights issues, video of residents in China protesting a land seizure, the death of Khale Said possibly being related to the uploading of a video, the ACLU letter to Lindsay Lohan and how video can be contextualized to fit a news networks' needs. A Peek Behind the Digital Curtain – Discussing YouTube’s Take Down Policy
As my colleagues Sameer Padania, Priscila Néri and Chris Michael who worked on The Hub can attest, curating online video is difficult to say the least. While considering questions on ethics, revictimization, consent, dignity, and security, the Hub staff at WITNESS aimed to highlight relevant human rights-related video that, at times, contained disturbing or very graphic imagery (see the example of the Neda video from Iran: 'A Woman Dies on Camera - To Post or Not to Post?') .

LGBT Rights in Africa: Malawi
My last post on 'LGBT Rights in Africa' focused on Uganda's pending anti-homosexuality law and how it caused international outrage and expressions of support for LGBT community in Uganda. Now we will look slightly over 1,000 miles south of Uganda to Malawi.
