Human Rights Day Series: Resources for #Video4Change Activists
This Saturday marks Human Rights Day, a day to pause and celebrate the rights we all share in common (even though they are not always respected or upheld). It also marks an opportunity for us to reach people who perhaps don't think about human rights daily- as the mainstream media usually gives a few minutes of coverage to the topic.

Cameras, Livestreaming and Activism at Occupy Wall Street
Walking through the city of tents at Liberty Plaza, home of Occupy Wall Street, it is immediately striking how many cameras there are floating about. Pointing this out, filmmaker and member of the media working group, who goes by the name of Fix, jokes with me that it sometimes feels like Liberty Plaza is an “occupied surveillance machine.”

The #Video4Change Community Honors Mohammed Nabbous
As many of you are aware, Mohammed Nabbous, or Mo, as he was known to many of those following his video stream and commentary on social media about events in Libya, was killed by sniper fire in Benghazi on Saturday, March 19th. If you're not yet familiar with Mohammed's work, I encourage you to read these remembrances of him on Global Voices Online and The Washington Post's BlogPost.

What Does the Open Video Movement Mean For Archives?
At the WITNESS Media Archive, we collect, document, preserve, and provide access to human rights videos. Each component in this archiving endeavor contributes to the creation of reliable and authentic records in support of advocacy, prosecution of justice, truthtelling, and historical understanding.

Thoughts on archives “fitting in”, and processing the Rainlake donation.
I have had the pleasure of interning in the WITNESS Media Archive for the past semester. I chose this internship because I hoped to put my Masters in Human Rights Studies and my Masters in Library Science to work in the video archive.

Reaching Out at AMIA
On November 4-7, I attended the Association of Moving Image Archivists’ (AMIA) Conference in St. Louis, Missouri. Since AMIA is based in the US, and most of its conferences are held here, most attendees are American or Canadian.
