- Calling Volunteers to Translate How-To Videos for Activists We have been watching events unfold in Egypt through hundreds of videos and photos of people standing-up for freedom and caring for the injured to violent battles and a police van rushing through crowds of citizens, hitting and sending some of them feet in the air. If there ever was a doubt about the power of video to document and shine a spotlight on abuses, I think we can agree that doubt has been shattered.
- Breakthrough’s Video Contest About Diversity in the U.S. To kick off 2011, I thought it would be useful to highlight a video for change project in process and to hear from its producers about the planning for, organization, and outreach of the project, in this case a contest, and what they hope to accomplish with it.
- Universal Subtitles: Open Source Subtitling for Web Video Last week, our friends at the Participatory Culture Foundation put out a beta release of Universal Subtitles, an online tool that allows people to add subtitles to any video on the web.
- WITNESS training materials and videos in Burmese Over the past few years, literally hundreds of thousands have been moved to action by the videos created by our former partners at Burma Issues. Both the trailer and full version of just one video, Shoot on Sight, have been seen 1 million times on YouTube and the Hub alone - not to mention the dozens of times it has been screened before decision-makers and supporters.

- Tutorials on Lighting for Interviews etc… The folks at unmediated highlight efplighting.com, a site with some good tutorials on how to light subjects for interviews among other things. It could be useful for some of the educational modules for the Hub, although we are still on the lookout for a good tutorial on best practices for shooting cellphone video.
