Human Rights Day Series: Resources for #Video4Change Activists
This Saturday marks Human Rights Day, a day to pause and celebrate the rights we all share in common (even though they are not always respected or upheld). The Mozilla Festival and the Importance of a Free and Open Internet
Last month, WITNESS was invited to participate in the Mozilla Festival held at Ravensbourne University in London. The festival brought together some of the Mozilla community’s best developers and put them in the same room as some of its most innovative online content creators to collaborate hands on to create new features and build actual working demos. The cry of "Less Yack, More Hack!" served as reminder to keep things concrete and tangible and not to veer off into the theoretical as so often happens at conferences.

First, blow-out sales prompted us to notice that the Zi8 is officially discontinued. Then, Cisco announced that the entire Flip company will be closed. As we say good-bye, here is a look back on how we used these successful products in our work, some alternative models we considered and the features we like and hope to see in future models.

Human Rights Video, Privacy and Visual Anonymity in the Facebook Age
The successful nationwide organizing and subsequent protests in Egypt to oust the 30-year regime of President Hosni Mubarak have in part been facilitated by Facebook. But as media and technology commentators and human rights activists alike are noting, using Facebook for activism is fraught with risks.
