Video From Yemen’s Demonstrators: A Call for Human Rights and Democracy
I had the opportunity to visit Yemen a few years ago as part of a WITNESS partner training and I heard first-hand from human rights activists and citizens how the government has failed to ensure basic human rights in the country. Issues included conditions ranging from a lack of freedom of expression and access to basic resources to systemic corruption and high unemployment.

Gender Justice Activists Integrate Video for Advocacy
As I’m writing from a buzzing room in Nairobi, Kenya, there are five groups of women’s rights activists editing interviews that they’ve conducted as part of a ten-day video advocacy training. Through WITNESS’ new partnership with Women’s Initiatives for Gender Justice, this is the second comprehensive training that we’ve conducted (see a video report from our first training with a group from Northern Uganda) to support a push for an end to gender-based violence.

When an Advocacy Video Misses Its Mark
I've seen a lot of advocacy videos - three years ago I helped start the WITNESS Hub and have been scouring the web for creative, innovative and effective advocacy videos ever since. Throughout, there is one genre of advocacy videos that has always has been the most polarizing: comedy.

Video: Water Kills Installation
Public installations can be incredibly powerful to engage folks and provoke discussion, amazement and inspiration. This water-focused video produced for SOLIDARITÉS INTERNATIONAL, a humanitarian organization that provides aid and assistance to victims of war or natural disaster, documents one of the most innovative installations I've seen and the video is gorgeous.
